The itinerary includes pick up in Tangier, visits to Chefchaouen, Fez (with guide), the Middle Atlas, Merzouga desert, Todra and Dades Gorges, Ouarzazate and Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. We will finish in Marrakech, where a guided tour is also included.
Your adventure begins on Day 1 by meeting at the port of Tangier. From there, you’ll embark on a scenic drive through the imposing Rif Mountains, passing Tetouan along the way. After enjoying magnificent panoramic views, you’ll arrive in Chefchaouen, a charming village nestled at the foot of the Rif Mountains. Next, we will explore its Medina, whose heart is a picturesque Spanish-style square surrounded by vibrant craft stores, restaurants, and cafes. Here, you’ll have time for lunch and to soak up the local atmosphere before continuing our journey to the historic city of Fez, where we will spend the night.
On Day 2, prepare to explore Fez, Morocco’s oldest and most culturally rich city, with an expert local guide. You will stroll through its intricate alleys, visiting landmarks such as the Royal Palace gate, the ancient Jewish quarter (Mellah), and the prestigious Al Karaouine University (the region’s oldest). Furthermore, your exploration includes the fascinating Tanneries, the exquisite Attarine Museum, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, an important pilgrimage site. That evening, you will spend the night in the medina, immersed in the authentic atmosphere of Fez.
Today’s journey takes you through varied and spectacular landscapes. First, you will pass through Ifrane, a charming ski resort reminiscent of a Swiss village. Next, you’ll drive through the imposing Middle Atlas Mountains, enjoying cedar forests, rugged rock faces, and Berber villages. Following this, you will stop for lunch in Midelt, famous for fossils and apples. In the afternoon, the route continues towards Merzouga via the Ziz Valley and Erfoud (the capital of dates). Eventually, you’ll arrive in Merzouga in the evening, staying at a local hotel near the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes.
Following breakfast at your hotel, we’ll embark on a Merzouga 4×4 excursion to explore the diverse and fascinating sites around the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Our journey begins at the Hassi Labied oasis, where you can see its traditional irrigation canal and local agriculture. We’ll then head south to the seasonal Sriji Lake (its presence depends on recent rainfall).
Next, we visit Khamlia village. If you wish, you can experience the powerful Gnawa music, a cultural tradition brought to Morocco centuries ago by people originating from sub-Saharan Africa. Afterward, we’ll continue to the M’ifis mines; besides tourism, the Merzouga desert is also known for its rich mineral and fossil deposits.
A highlight of our 4×4 tour is the opportunity to visit a nomadic Berber family living traditionally in their tent amidst the Sahara. We’ll share a glass of mint tea with them and learn about their unique way of life.
Throughout the excursion, we’ll pause at various panoramic viewpoints for you to enjoy the stunning scenery and take photographs. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll return to the village.
From there, your adventure continues with camel trekking into the dunes to reach our Berber Camp. The camel ride takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, including a break atop a dune to watch the spectacular sunset. You’ll have the chance to try sandboarding (if interested), admire the views, and capture photos.
After these beautiful moments, you’ll proceed to the camp. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of tea and have time to relax until dinner. Following your meal, enjoy traditional Berber drumming music beneath the starry Saharan sky before retiring to your nomadic tent for the night.
Today, being already in the desert, it’s well worth waking up early to witness the sunrise near the camp. After enjoying these beautiful moments, you’ll have breakfast and the opportunity to shower at the camp.
You can then choose to return via camel ride or a 4WD transfer back to the original starting point, where you will meet your driver to continue your 6-day Morocco itinerary.
Our journey takes us towards the Dades Valley. If it’s a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), we’ll visit the lively weekly market in Rissani. We’ll pass through small Berber villages such as Touroug and Tinjdad, eventually reaching Tinghir. Here, we’ll stop to admire the stunning Todra Valley, rich with palm trees and lush vegetation. We then proceed to the Todra Gorge, situated at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains. This renowned location for rock climbers offers impressive high canyons, where you’ll have free time for a walk. After a break for lunch, we’ll travel to Boumalne Dades in the afternoon, arriving in the Dades Valley later in the day.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at a comfortable hotel or riad in the Dades Valley.
Today marks the final day of your 6-day tour from Tangier. Our journey continues towards Marrakech, taking us through Kalaat M’gouna, the famous Rose Valley, and the Skoura palm grove.
In Ouarzazate, we will visit the historic Kasbah Taourirte, with an optional stop at the renowned film studios.
Next, we drive to the remarkable Ait Benhaddou, where we’ll explore its famous and ancient Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986. This spectacular location has served as a backdrop for famous films like Gladiator, The Mummy, and Jewel of the Nile. You’ll have free time here for lunch.
Our trip then proceeds across the stunning High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass. At 2260 meters, it’s the highest road pass in Morocco, offering impressive views of valleys, mountains, and nearby Berber villages.
